CONCORD — The Concord Historic Districts Commission voted 5-0 to approve window and addition-footprint plans for a major renovation at 441 Main Street, while continuing review of a porch, dormers and shed to September 9. Architect Sven Olson, who also needs a Zoning Board of Appeals variance for a reconstructed front porch, told commissioners he didn't want to see the project stall, saying "we keep kicking the can down the road." Commissioner Bill Hewitt proposed splitting the application, noting the board lacked "measured drawings on the elevations" for the shed and dormers. The board also approved windows at 100 Kyes Road, steps and siding at 330 Main Street, and skylights at 67 Bow Street, all 5-0.

Separately, commissioners voted 4-0 to withdraw a Black Heritage Trail marker application near the Unitarian Meeting House, with Commissioner Walter Clay saying he'd have "an extremely hard time approving" an alternative Monument Square open-space site for a Frederick Douglass memorial.
