CONCORD — The Concord MCI Master Plan Committee approved amended minutes 6-0 by roll call and previewed its September 9 public meeting on the former prison redevelopment. Consultant Phil said the town wants attendees to leave believing the project is "moving forward to a real tangible project," with mobility, fiscal-impact and illustrative-plan updates planned for the Concord-Carlisle Regional High School session. Member Sven warned that a second access point off Route 2 is "fundamental" to avoid funneling all traffic onto Commonwealth Avenue.
The committee heard zoning information sessions are set for October 6 at Goodwin Library and tentatively October 20 for a joint Planning Board review. Much of the meeting focused on a target of 800 to 1,000 housing units across 68 acres, with Housing Trust liaison Paul Lilleham cautioning that townwide percentage figures understate the "disproportionate impact" on West Concord. The Concord Housing Trust separately approved a $50,000 grant to the Concord Housing Development Corporation for Junction Village predevelopment work.
