CONCORD — The Concord Natural Resources Commission approved a new Black Heritage Trail marker and advanced plans to renew a bow-hunting pilot program. Chair Jim Smith's board unanimously approved 10 separate wetlands permits, including orders of conditions for a golf course pump station on Sudbury Road and two Barrett's Mill Road lots, plus certificates of compliance for Balls Hill Road LLC and the Massachusetts Port Authority. The commission also agreed to continue archery deer hunting at Barrett's Mill Farm through a full state season, October 5 through late November, after 16 hunters applied for just two available stands.

A proposed home at 18B Powder Mill Road drew pushback from neighbors over tree removal and runoff, with resident Paul Rogers saying "what this pond represents to me is nature," and was continued to September 16. The commission also agreed to seek $250,000 in Community Preservation Act funds, on top of $500,000 already approved, toward a planned $1 million conservation land acquisition fund.
