Other Committee · Meeting of June 11, 2026

Concord's DEI Commission heard updates on the Route 2 rotary redesign and a stalled Black Heritage Trail marker vote, with no formal action taken. State Representative Simon Catalo told the panel the rotary is "an economic justice issue," citing MassDOT projections of a 30 to 60 percent commute-time reduction under an above-grade alternative; Select Board liaison Mary Hartman announced a MassDOT public forum June 24 at Concord Middle School. Member Joe reported the Historic District Commission continued its review of 11 proposed Black Heritage Trail markers to June 17 after a two-hour hearing, with a Select Board final vote set for June 22.

Member Liz criticized MCI-Concord housing planning as lacking transparency, saying proposed "attainable housing" units would run $600,000 to $700,000 unrestricted rather than income-limited. The commission also reported 456 responses so far to its community DEI survey, open since April 10.
