Concord conservation panel expands bow hunting after deer overrun town farms. The Natural Resources Commission voted unanimously to extend last year's bow-hunting pilot to additional farms, including Barrett's Mill Farm and Kudisky Fields, after staff reported deer densities of "70, 80" per square mile against a state target of "12 to 18." About 15 hunters are already on a waiting list, with a lottery guaranteeing at least one permit to a Concord resident. The board also approved an order of conditions letting the Concord Land Conservation Trust plant 1,288 trees and 316 shrubs along the Sudbury River under a state Riparian Zone Restoration grant, and continued two contested wetlands cases, at 18 Powder Mill Road and 137 Valley Road, to October 7 pending stormwater and septic-line details.
Resident Susan MacDonald urged patience with the Powder Mill Road homeowners: "I think we need to really keep that in mind."
