Other Committee · Meeting of June 25, 2026

Concord's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission voted 6-0 to seek letters of support for the stalled Black Heritage Trail Marker Project. Commissioner Joe Palumbo said the Historic Districts Commission continued its review of marker sign sizes to July 8 after a June 17 hearing ended without a vote; four sizes, from 18 by 60 inches down to 12 by 40 inches, are now under review. Commissioner Brian Farber said a $14,000 state tourism grant, matched by $14,000 in town ARPA funds, must be encumbered by June 30, before the historic board even votes.

Commissioners agreed to seek letters from groups including the Human Rights Council, League of Women Voters, CORE and Tricon Church by July 6. Separately, members said the Concord-Carlisle Regional School Committee's chair declined to put their support request on his agenda, calling it "my determination as chair." In public comment, the Robbins House reported a new $20,000 state earmark and a $300,000 congressional funding request for a heritage-trail shuttle program.
