Other Committee · Meeting of June 9, 2026
Concord's Commission on Disability elected Jennifer Brooke chair and heard a consultant's report flagging dozens of ADA barriers across town facilities. KMA consultant Emmanuel called Concord's public survey response "unbelievable," saying "it was the best public survey experience I had with working with municipalities." The draft 509-page self-evaluation lists more than two dozen recommendations, including ending accessibility surcharges and restriping parking spaces at an estimated $1,500 each, per the firm's internal cost database. Concord is eligible for up to $250,000 per project in the next Massachusetts Office on Disability grant round, opening May 2027.
Assistant Town Manager Jess Porter said the report will go before the Select Board on July 20. New member Rose O'Neill pressed for curb-cut and low-table fixes, saying barriers have gone unaddressed "since 2010."
