Transportation panel backs parking loss for Assabet bridge

Transportation Advisory Committee · Meeting of May 26, 2026

Concord TAC approves Assabet bridge parking compromise. The Transportation Advisory Committee voted unanimously to remove six parking spaces from the West Concord Commuter Parking Lot to preserve utilities and three mature trees in the Assabet River multi-use bridge project connecting the West Concord MBTA station to town center trails. The 25-percent-design-phase project has a 90-day comment period and an anticipated early fall public meeting.

Town Planner Elizabeth Hughes reported no impact on parking lot capacity. The LRTA also proposed a multi-town shuttle bus service including Concord with a July 7 meeting scheduled to discuss route and destination details.
