TAC weighs 1,000-unit MCI-Concord development, drafts Route 2 rotary letter
Transportation Advisory Committee · Meeting of June 16, 2026
CONCORD — Committee examines 800-1,000 unit MCI-Concord development and Route 2 rotary redesign options. Chair Ellen Quackenbush reported that designer Speck Dempsey can accommodate the full 1,000 units while maintaining multi-modal design principles. The committee committed to writing a letter to MassDOT supporting the state's Route 2 rotary redesign and requesting specific transportation improvements: a 45 mph speed limit with synchronized traffic lights east of the rotary, rail-to-trail accommodations on existing railroad bridges crossing Route 2, and increased MBTA frequency and accessibility.
Select Board Liaison Paul Boehm cautioned that a proposed Commonwealth Avenue roundabout could worsen congestion during construction.
