Retirement Board Approves 3% COLA, Opposes Pension Fund Raid
Retirement Board · Meeting of May 27, 2026
Concord Retirement Board approves 3 percent COLA for eligible retirees. The board voted unanimously to increase the cost-of-living adjustment for those who retired before June 30, 2025, effective July 1, 2026, on a base of $14,000. Executive Director Jill Hersey noted that the increase follows Social Security's 2.8% COLA, which falls within the board's 3% statutory maximum.
The board also voted unanimously to oppose House Bill 5386, directing Chairman Brian Whitney to send an opposition letter to state legislative committees and Concord's delegation, arguing against the redirection of $50 million to $100 million from the state pension fund for economic development.
