Other Committee · Meeting of July 30, 2026

Concord's Historical Commission cleared three demolitions, including senior housing buildings tied to a 795-person waitlist. The commission voted 5-0 three separate times on July 30 to find houses and structures at 41 Minot Street, 196 Hubbard Street and 45, 51 and 59 Deaconess Road "not preferably preserved." New England Deaconess Association CEO Chris Cintros told the commission "can you please get me in?" was a call he'd fielded from prospective Newbury Court residents, citing a waiting list of 795 people and roughly 25 percent of Concord's population over 65. The commission also approved historical markers for 42 Neshoba Road, 62 Elm Street and 21 Winthrop Street, and discussed drafting a letter to U.S.

Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum opposing proposed federal changes that would make Section 106 historic-preservation review optional rather than mandatory.
