Concord's Commission on Disabilities approved July minutes and spent its August 13 meeting shaping a remote town meeting participation plan and ranking accessibility fixes. Presenter Carlin Reith proposed capping a remote-participation pilot at 20 residents, with Chair Jennifer Brook asking, "How about if we make this a pilot and cap it at 20 people?" The town's Council on Aging van, which seats up to 14, carried only one rider to town meeting last year despite advertising, Director Dan Pettit told Reith. Members flagged an estimated $81,900 repair cost for the Concord Visitor Center from the town's new ADA self-evaluation and transition plan, calling it "way too low," and floated up to $300,000 for additional evaluations of schools, housing and public works.
Building Commissioner Kevin Pickering is due at the September 17 meeting to discuss a possible accessibility checklist for site-plan reviews.
