West Concord panel selects wood sculpture for Junction Park display.

West Concord Cultural District Committee · Meeting of April 6, 2026

CONCORD — West Concord Cultural District Committee's Sculpt This Space judging panel unanimously selected "Rybee House 5" by Connecticut artist Stephen Klema as the winning public art submission from 23 applicants for installation at Junction Park. The five-member panel, led by project leader Sue Beck and WCCDC Chair Sue LaChance, evaluated entries against conformance to guidelines, site compatibility, appreciation of nature, weather durability, and public safety. Klema's whimsical wooden sculpture, described as a colorful house for people and birds, appeared on every panelist's preference list.

Beck will present the selection to the full West Concord Cultural District Committee at its April 7 meeting.
