Concord Select Board Names Rovelli to Lead New MCI Prison Site Planning Committee
CONCORD — April 6, 2026 — Concord Select Board dissolves MCI Advisory Board and names Clerk Wendy Rovelli to lead new seven-member Master Plan Committee targeting a zoning package within six to eight months. The board voted 4-1 Monday to nominate Rovelli as the Select Board's representative on the MCI Concord Master Plan Committee, with member Cameron McKennitt casting the lone dissent, arguing the charge was not yet finalized and that due process had not been followed. Chair Mark Howell cited a consultant kickoff meeting scheduled for April 24 as driving the compressed timeline, telling the board the committee needs to "come up with a plan and a zoning package in a compressed period of time." The board separately voted unanimously to dissolve the MCI Concord Advisory Board, which had not met since December 2025, and to end Concord's shared public health nursing agreement with the Town of Maynard, consolidating two part-time nursing positions into one full-time role projected to cost approximately $91,561. The meeting opened with extended public comment calling on the board and Town Manager Kerry Lafleur to take legal action against an anonymous website attacking Director of Natural Resources Delia Kaye; Lafleur said the town is awaiting a legal opinion before acting.
