Warner's Pond panel accepts Hempel as clerk, approves adaptive management path.

CONCORD — Warner's Pond Management Committee unanimously names Carlene Hempel as clerk and endorses a six-step adaptive management process to guide restoration of the pond using approximately 197,000 dollars in Community Preservation Act funding over five years. Chair Chris Denaro and Bill Kemeza presented findings from the former Task Force documenting invasive species expansion, four distinct ecological communities, and broad wildlife diversity; possible control methods include hand pulling, herbicide application, diver-assisted suction harvesting, drawdown, dredging, benthic barriers, and biological controls. The committee will pursue either a competitive Request for Proposals or an invitation for bids for consultant and operational services; a subgroup including Dan Stapleton will develop a Conceptual Model from existing data before the next full meeting, tentatively prior to April 2.
