Concord Transportation Advisory Committee reviews STANTEC transportation strategy, proposes speed limit reform. Community Development Director Alyssa Sandoval reported 100 in-person forum attendees and 229 online comments calling for a dedicated Transportation Planner, improved bike connectivity, traffic calming, and better pedestrian safety; STANTEC will present a draft report within months. Committee member Phil Posner volunteered to develop a case study proposal for the Select Board using Old Marlboro Road as a test zone for replacing speed zoning with more logical limits and temporary traffic calming.
Ellen Quackenbush volunteered to investigate state automated enforcement laws for potential deployment near Concord Middle School. On February 17, committee members will hear roadway safety rankings from Alan Cathcart and Steve Dookran, Town Engineer, tied to a five-million-dollar safety budget.
