Recreation commission faces $900K revenue shortfall
Recreation Commission · Meeting of June 25, 2026
CONCORD — Recreation commission faces funding crisis requiring $900K in new revenue. BerryDunn consultant Jesse Myott reported that the Recreation Department's revolving fund requires approximately $500,000 in additional annual revenue by fiscal 2029–2030, while the Beede Swim and Fitness Center enterprise fund faces a $400,000 annual gap. Director of Recreation Leigh Jackson noted that preliminary fee recommendations include a 10 percent increase across programs, though a 5 percent increase would generate $300,000 to $350,000 in revenue.
Beede expenses are projected to increase more than 30 percent over the next several years, driven by personnel, benefits, utilities, and facility costs.
