Economic Vitality Committee backs mixed-use zoning amendment for Town Meeting.

Economic Vitality Committee · Meeting of March 25, 2026

CONCORD — The Economic Vitality Committee unanimously recommended favorable action on Article 34, a Planning Board warrant article amending the zoning bylaw to enable mixed-use developments across multiple buildings on a single site with revised affordability and open space standards. Chair Michael Lawson presented the amendment as aligned with the Envision Concord Comprehensive Plan's goal of creating vibrant commercial areas. The committee also advanced planning for a May 4 Arts and Cultural Forum at Barefoot Books in West Concord, initially targeting select representatives given approximately 50-person capacity, and reviewed reports from the Economic Vitality and Tourism Divisions on new business activity, zoning provision gaps, and Patriots Day event planning featuring the returning Block Party.
