Concord Public Works approves 9 percent waste rate increase
Public Works Commission · Meeting of June 10, 2026
Concord Public Works approves 9 percent solid waste rate increase. The Public Works Commission voted unanimously to raise the Solid Waste and Recycling program rates 9 percent, effective July 1, 2026, following a public hearing. Superintendent Aaron Miklosko presented the budget, showing the program currently serves 3,800 subscribers with a 68 percent participation rate.
The rate increase reflects a contractual 4.5 percent obligation and aims to build the enterprise fund balance from the current $204,181 to the Finance Committee's recommended target of $415,000. The commission also welcomed new Commissioner Alice Kaufman and announced the retirement of Director Alan Cathcart, with Miklosko assuming interim leadership.
