CONCORD — The Public Works Commission unanimously rejected an amended citizen petition seeking a town-wide composting rate-payer program. The Concord-Carlisle High School Sunrise Movement Club's amendment would have directed the Select Board to request the Town Manager investigate feasibility, but commissioners, led by Chair Andrea Solomon, raised concerns that the proposal failed to address resource burdens on town staff and overhead costs currently borne by private vendors. Commissioner Christine Reynolds moved for no action on Article 42, seconded by Vice Chair Gretchen Roorbach, with all members voting in favor of declining any municipal composting program investigation.
