Concord Launches Sudbury Road–Thoreau Street Intersection Project Thursday
A burst of town-wide road work is underway across Concord, with a new intersection project at Sudbury Road and Thoreau Street set to launch Thursday — and drivers on more than a dozen streets already navigating active construction zones.
TOWN HALL
Road crews are working across a broad swath of the town this week. The public works department's Tuesday update listed active work on Adin Drive, Main Street, Devens Street, Everett Street, Hubbard Street, Stow Street, Walden Street, Thoreau Street, Sudbury Road, Thoreau Court, and Laurel Street. Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate routes where possible.
Starting Thursday, June 25, a separate, dedicated project launches at the Sudbury Road and Thoreau Street intersection. The town has posted a detour plan; residents can find the full routing details at concordma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=2091.
Separately, a Level 1 water restriction limiting lawn watering to one day per week remains in effect. The gas-powered leaf-blower ban, which took effect May 31, also continues through the summer season.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Concord Free Public Library is accepting applications for its 2027 Writer-in-Residence Program, which is open now through July 15. The residency runs January through June 2027 and is designed to carry forward Concord's literary heritage by celebrating diverse voices and supporting literary arts programming. Details and the application are available at concordlibrary.org.
