Commission approves demolition of three Concord structures
Historical Commission · Meeting of July 30, 2026
Concord Historical Commission unanimously cleared three structures for demolition at its July 30 meeting. The commission voted 5-0 to find not preferably preserved: a home at 41 Minot Road, a 1889-1903 carriage barn at 196 Hubbard Street, and three mid-1960s apartment buildings at Deaconess Abundant Life Communities' Newbury Court. CEO Christopher Sintros explained the nonprofit, serving Concord since 1911, maintains a 795-person waitlist and needs modern facilities.
Commission members emphasized the clear public benefit. The Commission also approved historic markers at 42 Nashoba Road, 62 Elm Street, and 21 Winthrop Street.
