DEI Commission approves Pride crosswalk and heritage trail projects.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission · Meeting of January 7, 2026

CONCORD — The Concord Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission unanimously approved two public art initiatives, including temporary Pride Progress flag crosswalks planned for June and a Black Heritage Trail markers project funded by a recent grant. Co-Chair Andrea Foncerrada expressed concern on the record that the revised charge being reviewed by the Select Board for a January 13th meeting fails to explicitly list antisemitism and other forms of hate discrimination in the duties section, urging inclusion only in the background section. Public comment addressed the impact of a Commissioner's prior remarks, definitions of antisemitism, Muslim community experiences, and calls for an intersectional approach to addressing hate.

Select Board Chair Mark Howell confirmed further charge discussion is expected in early February.
