Concord's School Committee adopted a revised student seclusion policy and split 6-1 on updated operating protocols, with member Williams the lone dissent. Superintendent Dr. Lori Hunter told the joint Concord and Concord-Carlisle Regional committee that a fire suppression failure delayed Thoreau Elementary's "fire wing" renovation into October or November, while a new $1,639,000 athletics amenities building, part of $2,425,000 in combined town and state funding, is under signed contract for an April 2027 finish.
Parent Emily Lyons, founder of the Intentional Tech Coalition, urged a technology oversight subcommittee, citing Meta's up to $17 billion settlement with 47 state attorneys general. CPAC member Kristen Haggerty said of seclusion, "that child's life will be changed forever." The committee also approved four student-safety policies and a federally mandated harassment-policy fix unanimously, and gave first reading to a new "Protect Act" policy on responding to immigration enforcement at schools.
