CONCORD — The Concord School Committee reviewed extensive wellness and achievement data Wednesday showing gains in student mental health but persistent gaps for special education and low-income students. Concord Middle School Principal Dan Hauserman's team reported self-harm reporting fell 13 percent over six years and bullying among sixth graders dropped from 20 percent to 16 percent. Elementary ELA scores fell four points to 64 percent meeting or exceeding expectations during the second year of the district's EL Education curriculum rollout, which a presenter, Naomi, called "the awkward phase." Student Services Director Angel Charles said a 170-student "high needs" subgroup posted a 29 percent ELA proficiency rate.
The committee voted unanimously to approve FY27 budget transfers, including an $883,000 out-of-district tuition overage to be offset by grant funds, then voted 5-0 by roll call to enter executive session on CTA support-staff contract negotiations.
