Concord Schools Adopt Climate And Culture Framework

Concord School Committee adopts a new framework for tracking school climate and culture. The committee, meeting jointly with the Concord-Carlisle Regional School Committee, voted unanimously to close out two fiscal year 2026 budgets, $40,384,952 for the regional district and $47,701,940 for Concord Public Schools, both landing within $1,000 of fully spent. Chief Financial Officer Bob also reported the regional district's retiree health trust grew from 61.5 percent to 70.7 percent funded, with assets rising from $11.7 million to $14.3 million.
During public comment, parent and Anthropic employee Brittany Horton asked the committee to adopt an "allow list" and family opt-in process for AI tools on student devices, while longtime watcher Robert Grom criticized the district for not using the Allen Garrison Building's full name. The committee also reviewed a 20-year rooftop solar agreement for Concord Middle School with the Concord Municipal Light Plant and vendor Select, asking members to submit questions by Sunday, September 27.
