Board approves pilot rate for vehicle-to-grid electric buses
Light Board · Meeting of June 18, 2026
Concord Light Board approves pilot rate for vehicle-to-grid electric buses. The Municipal Light Board unanimously approved the G5 Vehicle-to-Grid rate for the school district's electric buses, setting compensation at 6.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for power returned to the grid, a $1.83 per kilowatt demand charge, and an annual $55.68 per kilowatt capacity credit. Director Jason Bulger described the pilot as designed to sustain electric bus fleet costs through ancillary revenue.
The board welcomed new member Tyson Kopczynski, a technology and cybersecurity expert with over 20 years of experience. The utility continues expanding Level 3 chargers, transitioning customers to Time-of-Day rates, and pursuing broadband expansion to multi-dwelling units. Evaluation of the rate is planned for 18 months.
