Zoning Board · Meeting of June 11, 2026

CONCORD — The Concord Zoning Board of Appeals approved four accessory dwelling unit permits and continued four other hearings, including a West Concord gas station overhaul, to July 9. Chair Theo Kindermans, Vice Chair Ravi Faiia and full member Elizabeth Dwyer-Leonard voted 3-0 on every motion. The board approved ADUs at 199 Nashawtuc Road (825 square feet), 131 Harrington Avenue (998 square feet), 411 Bedford Street (999 square feet with a four-car garage) and 98 Jennie Dugan Road (900 square feet), each with engineering and health division conditions.

Attorney Jonathan Silverstein pitched a redevelopment of the long-vacant 166 Commonwealth Avenue gas station into an "Imperial Country Store," but board members pressed on ADA access, a tripping-hazard curb island and proposed riprap, with one member saying, "I don't think people in West Concord would like riprap in their town." A 111 Pilgrim Road deck application was continued after members debated whether building atop an existing nonconforming patio would improperly extend a 9.8-foot setback to 5.7 feet. A variance hearing for 262 Virginia Road was continued with a site visit set for June 25 at 8 a.m.
