Concord Public Works crews begin multi-street paving push this week
CONCORD — Road crews fanned out across more than a dozen streets this week as Concord pushed through a batch of summer paving and utility work, even as outside coverage kept a Route 2 rotary redesign in the spotlight.
TOWN HALL The town's Department of Public Works has work underway or scheduled this week on Stow Street, Everett Street, College Road, Annursnac Hill, Philip Farm, Liberty Street, Devens Street, Thoreau Court, Sudbury Road, Maple Street, Lexington Road, Bedford Road, and Old Bedford Road, along with the MBTA parking lot, according to the town's News Flash. Paving and curb-related work at the MBTA lot is scheduled for July 14, with Maple Street work and an extension of the Old Bedford Road project — running from Lexington Road to the Bedford town line — both set to begin July 15. A Spencer Brook Road closure is planned to begin July 20.
The town also renewed its reminder that lawn-watering restrictions remain in effect during the recent hot stretch, and it rolled out an FY26 Grants Dashboard intended to give residents a clearer view of how the town is leveraging grant opportunities.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Concord Free Public Library opened "Summer Memories," a solo exhibition by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton, with an opening reception Saturday evening in the Munroe Gallery at the Main Library. The show, on view through July 30, gathers landscapes and scenes the library describes as capturing "the places, and moments that shape our most cherished memories."
Also on view at the Main Library: "A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents," running through July 26.

COMING UP Applications for the Concord Free Public Library's 2027 Writer-in-Residence Program are due July 15. The residency, covering January through June 2027, is intended to continue the town's literary heritage through new programming.
