Other Committee · Meeting of October 28, 2026

Concord's Natural Resources Commission approved a Massport wetland restoration plan and more than a dozen other actions in one meeting. The commission confirmed Greg Cohen of the Massachusetts Port Authority as environmental monitor for a plan to plant 19 trees and six shrubs after a contractor cleared roughly 3,000 square feet of unauthorized vegetation in a wetland buffer at Hanscom Field; Cohen called it "a Stantec mess up." Commissioners also unanimously approved eight-foot deer fencing for Barrett's Mill Farm, where co-owner Melissa Maxwell said a one-acre test run "was very successful" against escalating deer pressure. The board closed a disputed hearing on an 18B Powder Mill Road house after resident Michael Williams questioned whether its six-bedroom septic design matched its stated footprint, with Chair Jim Smith saying sizing fell outside the commission's wetlands jurisdiction.

The director reported three pending Community Preservation Committee requests totaling $1.07 million for trail work, land acquisition and a West Concord pocket park. The commission also granted multiyear permit extensions to Nashatuck Country Club and a Symes Development subdivision.
