Other Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026
Concord's Climate Action Committee reviewed a staff recommendation on curbside composting and pressed its consultant on whether the town's draft climate plan meets its 2030 emissions goal, taking no vote on either. Staff member Megan recommended the town pursue a formal curbside composting vendor partnership, citing comparison towns Bedford, Lexington and Hamilton, and reported that 10.5 percent of households now subscribe to hauler Black Earth, up from 8.5 percent a year ago. Member Fran warned, "if we don't think there's a chance in hell we're ever going to get 50 percent by 2030, this would be the time to talk about that." The committee authorized its chair and members Brad and Fran, by 6-0 and 5-0 roll-call votes, to represent the committee at upcoming community and Light Board meetings.
The composting recommendation heads to the Select Board on November 9; the committee will revisit it November 2.
