Board defers Overlay Account release decision

Board of Assessors · Meeting of January 27, 2026

Concord assessors defer decision on releasing Overlay Account funds as exemption applications surge. CFO Jennifer Barrett requested the board release approximately $125,000 for fiscal 2029 revaluation costs, but board members deferred the decision pending further review. The board noted that votes on 48 new Residential Exemption Applications would drain approximately $100,000 from the account.

Chair Mera Tilley cited uncertainty from pending commercial cases at the Appellate Tax Board. The board will revisit the decision at its March 3 meeting.
