Town Delays Paving, Library Opens Emerson Art Show
Town crews postponed Thursday's roadwork due to weather, while the Community Preservation Committee opened its fall application window and the Free Public Library debuted a new exhibition on Edward Waldo Emerson's art.

The Town of Concord announced a paving delay for Thursday, July 30, citing inclement weather, according to a News Flash notice. Roadwork on Old Bedford Road and Bedford Street is now scheduled to continue Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, per the town's contractor update.
The Community Preservation Committee is accepting applications for Community Preservation Act funds supporting historic preservation, open space, recreation, and community housing, with a deadline of Friday, Sept. 18, at noon. Separately, the town's Natural Resources Commission is seeking letters of interest for a vacancy on the Warner's Pond Management Committee through Aug. 21, aimed at improving the pond's ecological health and recreational capacity.
The town also flagged a public health advisory noting the CDC's awareness effort around Cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite, though officials said Massachusetts case counts remain typical for this time of year. The Spencer Brook Road closure that began July 20 remains in effect, and the town's FY26 Grants Dashboard continues to track how Concord is leveraging grant opportunities community-wide.

The Concord Free Public Library's Munroe Gallery at the Main Library opened "Celebrating the Art of Edward Waldo Emerson" on July 30, running through Sept. 10. The exhibition features a rare selection of works by Emerson, son of Ralph Waldo Emerson, including pieces on loan from private collections shown publicly for the first time, alongside paintings, sketchbooks, and his palette drawn from the library's William Munroe Special Collections.
The library's July show, "Summer Memories," a solo exhibition by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton, closed the same day after a run that began July 6.
