Sudbury Road resurfacing, town paving push begin this week
CONCORD — Sudbury Road resurfacing work got underway this week, snarling parking near the Main Library and prompting a townwide paving push across a dozen streets, as Concord's cultural calendar filled with new summer exhibitions.
TOWN HALL
The Town of Concord has begun a wave of road work this week, with crews active on Sudbury Road, Main Street, Thoreau Street, Everett Street, Stow Street, Devens Street, Thoreau Ct., Philip Farm Road, Virginia Road, Liberty Street, Annursnac Hill Road, and College Road, according to the town's News Flash postings. Separately, resurfacing work and an associated detour on Sudbury Road, from Main Street to Fairhaven Road, began July 6 and is expected to continue through the week.
The town also flagged its new FY26 Grants Dashboard, which it says offers residents a clearer view of how Concord is leveraging grant funding to support community programs. A previously announced gas-powered leaf-blower ban remains in effect, part of the town's ongoing environmental restrictions.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Concord Free Public Library is warning patrons that road work on Sudbury Road and Stow Street may cause intermittent parking disruptions at the Main Library through July 10.
The library's Munroe Gallery opened a new solo exhibition this week: "Summer Memories," featuring the work of Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton, runs July 6 through July 30, with an opening reception set for Saturday, July 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. Also on view at the Main Library is "A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents," featuring rare 1776 materials, through July 26.
