Library Opens Monthlong 'Summer Memories' Art Exhibition

Road crews launched a resurfacing project on Sudbury Road on Monday, bringing lane closures and a detour to one of the town's busiest corridors, while the Lowell Regional Transit Authority is set to appear before the Transportation Advisory Committee Tuesday to open discussions about expanding bus service into Concord for the first time.

Work began July 6 on Sudbury Road between Main Street and Fairhaven Road, with a detour in effect for the duration. The town's week-of-July-6 road work overview lists additional paving and maintenance activity on Main Street, Thoreau Street, Everett Street, Stow Street, Devons Street, Thoreau Court, Philip Farm Road, Virginia Road, Liberty Street, Annursnac Hill Road, and College Road.
The Lowell Regional Transit Authority will present to the Transportation Advisory Committee at its Tuesday meeting on the prospect of extending LRTA service to Concord — described by the town as "beginning the conversation." Residents are invited to attend and offer feedback. The TAC meets July 7.
The town also released its FY26 Grants Dashboard, giving residents a public accounting of how town departments are leveraging grant funding across the fiscal year. A separate notice is asking residents to reduce outdoor water use while summer demand is elevated.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Munroe Gallery at the Main Library opened a new solo exhibition Monday: Summer Memories, paintings by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton celebrating the landscapes and moments behind cherished memories. The show runs July 6 through July 30, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 11, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Also on display through July 26 is A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents — original materials from the founding summer, on view at the Main Library during the nation's 250th-anniversary season.
Writers and literary residents have until July 15 to apply for the library's 2027 Writer-in-Residence Program, a paid residency running January through June 2027. The program is designed to carry forward Concord's literary heritage by celebrating diverse voices and supporting new literary arts programming.
Drivers heading to the Main Library this week should expect intermittent parking disruptions caused by road work on Sudbury Road and Stow Street through July 10.
