CONCORD — Select Board backs wireless bylaw amendment while rejecting composting study. The board voted unanimously to recommend Town Meeting approval of Planning Board amendments clarifying wireless facility language on utility poles, while rejecting a citizen petition requesting a municipal composting feasibility study in a 3-2 vote. The Public Works Commission argued that private vendors already provide affordable curbside service and that a town program would strain staff resources and likely cost more.
Chair Mark Howell proposed alternative language asking the Town Manager and Select Board to explore lower rates from private suppliers and support expanded composting awareness, subject to Town Moderator approval. The board also unanimously appointed Steve Fusco to the Planning Board for an unexpired term ending May 31, 2029.
