Roadwork Continues On Three Concord Streets This Week

Roadwork crews are back on Old Bedford Road, Bedford Street and Lowell Road this week, while the Community Preservation Committee's application window and a Natural Resources Commission vacancy remain open to residents looking to get involved this month.

TOWN HALL

The town's roadway contractor is scheduled to continue work the week of August 3 through August 7 on Old Bedford Road, Bedford Street and Lowell Road, according to a revised schedule posted to the town's News Flash feed. Drivers should expect continued lane restrictions and delays in the area through the week.

The Community Preservation Committee is accepting applications for CPA funds supporting historic preservation, open space, recreation and community housing, with applications due Friday, September 18, at noon. Separately, the Natural Resources Commission is seeking letters of interest for a vacancy on the Warner's Pond Management Committee, with a window open through August 21 for residents who want to help manage the pond's ecological health and recreational use.

The Natural Resources Commission and the Warner's Pond Management Committee both have meetings on the calendar this week, on Wednesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 6 respectively, along with a West Concord Advisory Committee meeting Wednesday.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Concord Free Public Library's main branch is hosting "Celebrating the Art of Edward Waldo Emerson," an exhibition running July 30 through September 10 on the first floor of the Main Library. The show features a rare selection of works by Edward Waldo Emerson, son of Ralph Waldo Emerson, including pieces on loan from private collections shown publicly for the first time alongside paintings, sketchbooks and his palette from the library's William Munroe Special Collections.

Auditions for a local production of "Into The Woods" are set for August 18 and 19 in Concord through The Umbrella Arts, according to a casting notice picked up by Google Alerts from Playbill.
