Concord's 2229 Main Street Oversight Committee pressed EPA regulators over a spreading contamination plume at the former industrial site. The committee voted 3-0, with one abstention, to approve minutes from three prior meetings before turning to the site's annual groundwater report. Chair Ray said EPA project manager Kara told him the "ready for reuse" certification won't be signed until 2031, two years later than earlier estimates.
A Green Acton representative said the bedrock 1,4-dioxane plume has split into "two toes" for the first time, with one well's reading jumping from 8.8 to 26.6 micrograms per liter in a year. Ray declined to serve as the town's public spokesperson at an upcoming EPA meeting, citing a possible future vote on the town's acquisition of the $300 million cleanup site. The public can hear an EPA progress update April 2 at Town Hall.
