Old Bedford Road Work Set to Extend to Bedford Town Line
CONCORD — The Town of Concord pushed out a cluster of road-work and closure notices this week, headlined by the start of construction on Old Bedford Road extending from Lexington Road to the Bedford town line beginning July 15, as lawn watering restrictions remained in effect amid the ongoing stretch of hot weather.
TOWN HALL The town's News Flash service flagged an update Tuesday on Old Bedford Road work, set to begin July 15 and extend from Lexington Road to the Bedford town line. A separate notice warned that Spencer Brook Road will close beginning July 20. Those join a broader slate of road work already underway or planned for the week of July 13, including paving and curb work at the MBTA parking lot scheduled for July 14, plus activity on Stow Street, Everett Street, College Road, Annursnac Hill, Philip Farm, Liberty Street, Devens Street, Thoreau Court, Sudbury Road, Maple Street, Lexington Road and Bedford Road.
The town also renewed its hot-weather reminder that lawn watering restrictions remain in effect, a notice posted Monday as the region continues to see elevated temperatures.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Concord Free Public Library is accepting applications for its 2027 Writer-in-Residence Program, with a deadline of July 15 for the residency period running January through June 2027. The program is intended to continue Concord's literary heritage and expand literary arts programming at the library.
Two exhibitions remain on view at the Main Library's Munroe Gallery: "Summer Memories," a solo show by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton on view through July 30, and "A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents," on view through July 26.
