Concord Town Offices and Libraries Close Friday for Independence Day Holiday
Friday, July 3 — Town offices are closed today in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Normal hours — Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — resume Monday, July 7.
Friday, July 3 – Saturday, July 4 — Both the Main Library and the Fowler Branch are closed for the Independence Day holiday weekend and will reopen Sunday, July 5. Patrons should also note that the Stow Street parking lot at the Main Library was unavailable Thursday due to road work in the area.
Sunday, July 6 – ongoing — Drivers should plan for significant road work beginning Monday, July 6. Resurfacing on Sudbury Road from Main Street to Fairhaven Road is scheduled to start, with a detour in effect. Additional work that week will span more than a dozen streets, including Main Street, Thoreau Street, Everett Street, Stow Street, Devons Street, Thoreau Court, Philip Farm Road, Virginia Road, Liberty Street, Annursnac Hill Road, and College Road. Sunday, July 6 – Wednesday, July 30 — The Munroe Gallery at the Main Library opens a solo exhibition, Summer Memories, by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton. The show celebrates landscapes and moments that shape cherished memories and runs through July 30. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Through Saturday, July 26 — Also on view at the Main Library this summer: A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents, timed to the nation's 250th anniversary.
Monday, July 7 — The Transportation Advisory Committee meets and will hear a presentation from the Lowell Regional Transit Authority, which is exploring expanded service to Concord. Residents are encouraged to attend and offer feedback.
Monday, July 7 — The Select Board holds its regular meeting; a Zoom link and agenda are available at concordma.gov.
Tuesday, July 15 — The Concord Free Public Library's Writer-in-Residence Program is accepting applications through July 15 for a January–June 2027 residency.
