Concord Issues Health Advisory As Parasite Cases Rise Statewide
Concord officials issued a health advisory this week urging residents to stay alert for cyclosporiasis, a parasitic gastrointestinal illness, as cases climb in multiple states even though the town and state remain within a typical range for the season.
TOWN HALL The town's News Flash service posted a Health Advisory on Cyclosporiasis Case Tracking, noting that while the Massachusetts case count remains typical for this time of year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising heightened awareness given a rise in cases across multiple states of the illness, which is caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora. The notice did not identify a specific local exposure source or product.
