MCI Committee Reviews DPW Site Design Options

Other Committee 2026-09-17 Part 4 · Meeting of September 17, 2026

Concord's MCI Master Plan Committee debated whether to reuse Building L for a relocated Department of Public Works facility. Public Works representative Erin McCoskey said the department needs about seven acres near the town's 3.9-acre wastewater treatment plant, calling an alternative, smaller design too tight: "We're not adamant, we're not pushing anything through." Members debriefed a September 9 public presentation that drew 140 in-person attendees and more than 200 online viewers, noting surprise at a projected $1.2 million annual town revenue figure. Remote member Peter flagged that the financial model omits capital costs.

Resident Diane Proctor pressed on whether the total housing-unit count, still under Select Board negotiation with the state, could be reduced. Members said West Concord housing anxiety is compounding with two nearby projects, Novo and Alta, projected to add hundreds more units. No votes were taken.
