Board recommends Walden Street cell tower

Concord Planning Board unanimously backs a 150-foot cell tower recommendation for town-owned land. Attorney Michael Dolan and Wireless Edge Towers III LLC president John Arthur pitched the monopole for 755 Walden Street, a former landfill site now used for composting and solar power, designed to hold town public-safety antennas plus up to five commercial carriers; Verizon and AT&T have already signed leases. Members spent much of the meeting on propane generator specs, ultimately recommending weekly testing be coordinated to noon-3 p.m.
Resident Gail Hire called the site "the perfect place for it" but flagged a lease provision listing generator tests at 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a conflict staff said they'd sort out before Thursday's Zoning Board of Appeals hearing. The board separately endorsed an Approval Not Required plan combining four Fenn School lots at 516 Monument Street for a planned gymnasium.
