CONCORD — Work group advances bias reporting system design with extended deadline. The Bias and Hate Incident Reporting Work Group extended its final report deadline to May 15 following three focus groups with 19 participants. Deborah Dorfman reported consistent concerns about school district transparency and retaliation fears, as well as persistent bias and hate incidents including Jewish students fearing to wear Stars of David and community exclusion.
Participants requested multiple reporting modes (online, phone, in person, mail), anonymity protections, and data analysis to identify patterns. Chief Information Officer Jeff Weiner outlined a system using Microsoft 365 for secure storage and Microsoft Power BI for analysis, with reporting categories including race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, and class.
