West Concord Advisory Committee backs 166 Commonwealth Ave. redevelopment letter

CONCORD — The West Concord Advisory Committee unanimously endorsed a letter supporting the revised 166 Commonwealth Avenue redevelopment, which includes upgraded lighting, rear path illumination, and a natural copper roof; an engineering consultant will assess traffic at Kenny Dunn Square. The committee also discussed a proposal to expand the WCAC's charge to serve as a public forum and engagement mechanism for all West Concord activity west of Route 2, including new housing, 40B projects, the senior center, and major developments. The proposal prompted debate about whether the committee should remain under the Planning Board or connect to the Select Board and whether to partner with the League of Women Voters.
Committee members deferred action and requested written feedback on a charge document before the next meeting.
