Concord extends interim public works chief through October as hiring-process debate emerges. Town Manager Carrie LaFleur told the Public Works Commission she is giving interim director Aaron McClosto until the end of October to finish one-on-one staff meetings before deciding on a permanent hire, prompting Commissioner Sven Weber to push for a publicly advertised search rather than an internal promotion. LaFleur called public works the town's largest and, in her words, "most underfunded department." Town Engineer Steve Dupren reported 8.8 miles resurfaced so far under Concord's $25 million, five-year paving plan, with the town roughly 45 percent through its 2026 target and Route 117 repaving starting within two weeks.
The commission also heard that a regional MWRA water-supply study could exceed $10 billion, with per-community costs potentially topping $100 million. The commission approved its June 10 minutes 5-0, its only formal vote.
