Concord Recreation Commission previewed a preliminary fiscal 2028 budget that includes fee increases across most programs. Recreation Director Lee Jackson and staff outlined an 18 percent jump in annual Beede Center membership rates, a 64 percent rise in facility rental revenue and an eight percent increase in recreation program revenue, built ahead of a cost-recovery report due next month from consulting firm BerryDunn. Staff said a roughly three percent online payment processing fee, previously absorbed by the department, will instead be charged to customers starting in January, when Apple Pay and Google Pay are added to registration.
"I don't want to do that anymore," a staff member said of covering the fee internally. The commission also heard that Rideout Park's basketball courts are 85 percent complete and that the Beede Center's roof replacement, delayed by weather, is now expected to finish by the end of October. Commissioners plan to vote on a final fee schedule December 7.
