CONCORD — Climate Action Committee endorses Article 42 student composting proposal for town meeting. Presented by Concord Connective High School Sunrise Club members Iliana Benson, Allison Sheppard, Evan Hultgren, and CAC member Shelly Karlin, the ratepayer-based system would allow residents and commercial buildings to opt into curbside composting with vendor-negotiated lower rates. The committee voted in support with one abstention, advancing the town's goal of 30 percent organics reduction by 2030.
Nearly 6,500 Concord households already use Black Earth composting services, with food waste producing methane that traps 84 times more heat than carbon dioxide.
